AUDITIONS for Finding Nemo and MDT Company

It’s just about time! Auditions for our musical theater program are just around the corner and there is a place for every student from 3-14 years old. Whether it’s Music Theater Minis (no audition necessary), Finding Nemo, or our NEW MDT Company, there is quality training available to each age. Read on to see what’s in store!

About MDT Company: This company is a new music, dance, theater company for students ages 11-14 who want to continue to grow and refine their abilities in all three disciplines. If you are looking for a place to grow as a performer while also increasing artistry and expression, this is the place!
There will be multiple performance opportunities throughout the year.
MDT students will work to put together a revue style show to perform in the winter and spring as well as standalone numbers to take to outreach performances throughout the year with a possible competition opportunity in the Spring for both group and solo pieces.
Students will have the opportunity to coach solos and perform them in a solo showcase in the winter.
Rehearsals will spend time teaching acting, vocal and dance technique alongside rehearsing performance pieces. Students will work monologues, audition skills, scenes, intro to Shakespeare, Theater history, dance foundations, mix/belt and legit vocal technique, sight reading and basic music theory, and more throughout the year.
Students will participate in Company events alongside other UPLIFT teams including parties, service projects, and other events.
MDT will be directed by our owner, Kelsey Phillips Harrison - A BYU Music Dance Theater graduate, Kelsey’s training spans modern, ballet, and musical theater with formative years at BYU Young Dancemakers, Classical Ballet Academy, the SCERA’s award-winning Acting Up, and Center Stage. She served as dance captain for the BYU Young Ambassadors for several years and has since built a choreography portfolio spanning Hale Center Theater Orem, the Jackson Hole Playhouse, the Valentine Theater, and schools throughout Utah Valley. You may have seen her choreography most recently in Frozen at Lehi Arts. She has directed over 35 youth productions over the last 12 years and coached and trained MTCA winning pieces for high school students throughout Utah. Outside the studio, she’s a proud mom of two boys.
